Youth festival kick starts

16th State level youth festival has been kick off today at Kangshang of Khuman Lampak sports complex Imphal.
Organised by Department of Youth Affairs and Sports, the inaugural function was graced by Commissioner of Arts and Culture Dr RK Nimai as chief guest and Special Secretary Youth Affairs and Sports H Deleep Singh IAS as president respectively.
Speaking at the occasion, Dr RK Nimai said that the festival creates an opportunity to showcase the talents of the youths from different districts of Manipur.
He also explored the important role of youths in promoting arts and cultures of different ethnic community in the State.
Special secretary of youth affairs and sports, H Deleep explained the main objective for organising the festival as an important step to promote peace and development in the State.
He appealed YAS department, the nodal agency to promote the welfare of the youths, for taking initiative to enhance better coordination between the youths of the State and youths of other parts the country.
He also maintained that Manipuri culture is radically distinctive with other States of the North-East India.
Both Meitei and tribal dances have different tunes and rhythms while comparing to other dances of the country.
Participated by various youths from different districts of the State, the festival will continue till December 11 .
