Imphal, August 07:
Strange it may sound, the Chowkidar of Samushang Primary Health Sub-Centre located under Mayang Imphal Assembly constituency is not only issuing drugs to patients but also administering IV drugs.
The dispensary which was upgraded to a PHSC recently was built about 24 years back.
There has been no adequate staff in the PHSC since then.
Even as the chowkidar appointed on contract basis who used to administer IV drugs to patients, has been left uncertain as his contract has not been extended.
The PHSC was inspected by local MLA Dr.Ratan yesterday during which it was found that three female health workers were posted there.
But they were found to be irregular in attending the health centre.
Nevertheless, the three female health workers managed to conduct seasonal immunisation programmes in time, conveyed the chowkidar.
After assessing the condition o f the PHSC, Dr.Ratan said that he would send a report to the CMO concerned for necessary measures.
The MLA then inspected the newly built accelerated rural water supply scheme scheduled for inauguration on August 22 .
Later taking part in a simple function held at Samushang Naoremthong Keithcl, MLA Dr Ratan distributed NREGS job cards to households belonging to Samushang Gram Panchayat.
