Along with formation of committees for setting up three different faculties, necessary steps have been taken up on war footing in connection with commencement of the admission to MBBS course in the Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences from August next year.
Talking to mediapersons today, Health and Family Welfare Minister Ph Parijat said the admission process to MBBS course in Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences would begin from August next year and a three-member team from Medical Council of India have inspected the condition of the medical college.
After the inspection, the team have given the advice that atleast three faculties namely, Anatomy, Physiology and Bio-Chemistry need to be set up first of all and there should not be any problem of lack of manpower, equipments and infrastructure in the functioning of the medical college, the Minister informed.
The Minister further informed that the inspection team of the Medical Council of India have also given the assurance of providing the letter of indent and LOP of the new medical college to the Govt of Manipur.
Acting on the advice of the inspection team that three faculties equipped them with all the required infrastructures should be set up within February 28 next year, the State Government has pooled whatever resources it has for commencement of the admission to MBBS course from August next.
While informing that the State Cabinet during its meeting yesterday has approved setting up of three works committees in connection with setting up of three proposed faculties, the Minister disclosed that Works Minister K Ranjit would be the chairman of the Infrastructure Committee which would ensure provisions for electricity, water, building and road in accordance to the model/norms of MCI while Equipment/Material Committee and Manpower Committee would be led by Health Minister and the Chief Secretary respectively.
