Reacting to the alleged statement of some unidentified armed persons who identified themselves as activists of an UG group in which the Universal Mothers' Organisation (UMO) was presented as involved in encroachment upon Langol Laimanai plot, the UMO president Sorojini while flaying the statement, has sought a definite clarification through media on the matter from all concerned.
Speaking to reporters on the matter at Manipur Press Club today, Sorojini conveyed that two individuals who identified themselves as activists of an UG group came to the UMO office at Lamboi Khongnangkhong yesterday night.
Charging that the UMO has been encroaching at Langol Laimanai plot to construct its office, the two activists asked the UMO functionaries to retrace its step.
Clarifying that the UMO has enough land for its office, Sorojini flayed the allegation that it has been conspiring to acquire plot at Langol Laimanai.
She further asked the UG group concerned to make a thorough investigation and authenticate the alleged information it gathered from the public that the UMO has been encroaching upon Langol Laimanai plot.
Sorijini also asked the outfit to inform the public of its findings after the investigation.
She informed that the body was earlier known as the All Manipur Shinnai Lamjing Lup before it was changed to the Universal Mothers' Organisation two years back.
Right from its establishment, the UMO has been working for the welfare of the State, she said.
Denouncing the act of deliberately dragging the name of UMO, which was set up under the principle of peaceful coexistence, in the land dispute of Langol Laimanai, Sorojini clarified that the UMO is not related in any manner with the issue of land dispute at Langol Laimanai.
