Imphal, January 02:
A sixteen year old girl who had been abducted and held in captive for almost four months by her captors was rescued by her family members on December 31 after the girl managed to give a slip and inform her family members on the telephone.
The victim has been identified as one Nahakpam Mamita d/o Nahakpam Shyamjai of Khabam Bamdiar Mamang Leikai.
Narrating her ordeal to The Sangai Express today, Mamita informed that she and another woman from the same locality identified as Wangkhem Nganbi (25) had gone to Poana bazar on September 5 to buy thread for making clothes.
On reaching the Sagolband area on a passenger jeep, they were approached by three youths whom Nganbi introduced as friends of hers, she added.
Mamita informed that she initially refused to go for a movie at one of the cinema hall when asked by the youths but finally gave in due constant pressure from Nganbi.
One of the youths immediately hired a Maruti van and took them on the pretext of seeing a movie, she added.
However, instead of going to a movie hall the youths took them to a house and tied Mamita's hands and mouth and left the place after locking her in a room.
Two of the youths again returned at around 8 pm and forced her into a white Maruti van and took her to another house.
She further said that her location was regularly changed by her captors during her captivity to escape detection.
