On the occasion of the International Human Rights Day, a protest march was undertaken from Mandi House to Parliament, New Delhi at about 11 am today, informed an AMSU release.
The protest march was participated by activists/volunteers of Lok Raj Sangathan Manipuri Students Association Delhi, All India Youth League Delhi, Asanghathit Nirman Mazdoor Union, Naga Peoples Movement for Human Rights, National Forum for Workers Rights, Hind Naujawan Ekta Sabha, Purogami Mahila Sangathan, Indian Social Institute, Nagrik Shasan Sikh Forum and AMSU.
It called for Constitutional guarantees and protection mechanisms for human, democratic and national rights, repeal of all 'fascist laws', withdrawal of army from North East and Kashmir and other areas, ban on acquisition of land by big corporations and multinationals, annulment of the Land Acquisition Act, 1894 and the SEZ Act, restoration of forest rights and peoples rights over natural resources, exemplary punishment to those involved in heinous acts of state terrorism including the cases of 1984, 1992, 2002 and in Kashmir, Assam, Nagaland, Manipur, Singur, Nandigram and other places, strict punishment to those who violate the rights and dignity of women, children and youth.
The participating also conveyed strong opposition to all attacks on minority communities, infrastructure projects that cause severe environmental degradation and displacement of people, the Indo-US strategic alliance and nuclear deal, mounting US interference in South Asia and interference of the Indian State in neighbouring countries, added the release.
