Fringes - In their own words...



Haraba Ningthoukhongjam - Vocals:

A doctor by profession and a self-taught singer grew up listening to Classic rock, heavy metal. He has toured extensively with the band, "Placid Dreams" all over the Manipur. He has also done a few studio recordings including the title track of a Tele-film for Doordarshan, North East by Aribam Syam Sharma in which he also acted.

Major influence: Lynard Skynard, B. B. King, Z.Z. Top, Robert Cray, Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple, Bob Marley, Eric Clapton, Def Leppard, Dream Theater.



Thingnam Sanjeev - Guitar:

An academic researcher by training. He learned guitar from his elder brother and cousins. He has been performing with many musicians at Imphal since the early 1990s. Also took Hindustani music training from Radha Charan Sharma. Recorded a few tracks of his own with a schoolmate Late Pramod Th. He also played for "Fubar Ghetto", Delhi.

Equipments: He owns a Musicman guitar, John Petrucci series and Givson (panther model) with tube screamer, D'adario string, Ax 30G Korg Processors, and a Marshall Amp.

Major influence: Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple, Wishbone ash, Steve ray Vaughan, Robert Cray, Roben Ford, Jimmy Hall, Bonnie Ratt, Keb Mo, John Mclaughlin, Al Di Meola, John Scofield, Fourplay, Eric Clapton



Shankar Sapam - Bass:

Learned guitar from his elder brother and played in inter state competitions. In 1996, he moved to the Mumbai and learned to play bass guitar and keyboard. Participated in Mood indigo IIT (Mumbai) rock competitions from 1996 to 2001. He has performed in festival of colleges and university in Mumbai and Gujarat. At present working as sound recordist at Shallow River, Imphal.

Major influence -Deep Purple, Eric Clapton, Al Di Meola, Pink Floyd, Rush, Rainbow, Iron Maiden, Saxon, Dave Matthews Band and Steely Dan etc.



Sunil Loitongbam - Drums & percussion:

He plays drum, who is a sound engineer by profession. Loves challenging grooves and patterns. He rise from a highly musical family of Late. L. Menjor Singh, and Smt. L. Sumati Devi of Imphal. He has been playing with various bands since 1989. He has played in Mumbai from 1992 till 2000. Has studio experience with Studio Smoke (also known as Ranjit Studios) as an assistant Engineer until the end of 2001. He studied sound recording and reproduction in Mumbai. Since, 2003 he has been working with Shallow River Studio, Imphal as a Sound Engineer and Studio Musician. He has worked as Music Director in various jingles, tele-films, digital films and some award winning documentaries. He is currently into enhancing his skills in local folk music of the North-East of India.
