Peaceful coexistence is a glorious tradition of the people of Manipur and this finds expression in the art and culture of the State, said Governor Gurbachan Jagat while speaking in the award giving away ceremony of Guru Tarunkumar Sanman 2009 held at Chorus Repertory Theatre today.
The Governor said that peaceful co-existence is being affected by violence, conflict and social tension in the State.
Peace and progress are what the Manipuri society today calls for, he added.
Gurbachan Jagat also appealed to all sections of people to contribute their best in their respective capacities for ensuring peace in the State.
He said that role of artists is very important in this regard.
