Following the extortion note of Rs 1 crore served on the location in-charge officer of Indian Oil Corporation by the NSCN/GPRN, the General Manager of North East Integrated State Office of IOC has written to the Chief Secretary of the State requesting for necessary measures for the safety and security of the employees of the company.
According to a reliable source, the extortion note signed by one SK Peter, kilonser in charge of trade and commerce of the Naga rebel group, which is undergoing peace talks with the Government of India, was served to the location in-charge officer of the company KI Singh.
In the letter submitted to the Chief Secretary, the General Manager mentioned that apart from receiving threatening telephone calls, two activists of the armed group had come to the house of the location in-charge officer in connection with the extortion demand.
Demanding that a responsible officer of the company be sent to settle the matter by November 17 through SMS, the officer was also threatened that it was the last warning.
As a consequence, the officer and his family members are living in fear and uncertainty, the letter said and requested the Chief Secretary for taking up necessary measures for the safety and security of the employees.
