Imphal, November 04 2010: A student of Manipur University, allegedly circulating porn video clipping inscribing the name of his ex-girl friend, has been arrested by the police and remanded into police custody till November 10 for further interrogation.

Official sources said that the 26-year old student of the Manipur University Moirangthem Surchand of Kyamgei Mamang Leikai, Imphal was arrested after the father of a girl doing MA in English lodged a complaint with the Singjamei police on Tuesday.

Police arrested the youth following a complaint lodged by the father to the station alleging that after her daughter cut-off relations with him, Surchand indulged in the circulation of the porn video clippings inscribing his daughter's name to other students of the University through mobile phones via blue tooth.

Surchand circulated the objectionable clippings to his friends after his relation with the girl ended in the last week of October.

The affair which started in 2007 ended due to incompatible personnel commitments.

The girl's father said his act tantamounts to defaming his daughter and also to stigmatize her all her life..

The father said, he came to know about the impermissible offence in the last week of October, when rumours spread about his daughter acting in a porn movie.

It had become common talk among students of MU.

The objectionable act of offender has caused much prejudice to his unmarried daughter who is pursuing her MA English final year in MU and has defamed all members of her family as well as their clan, the father was quoted as saying in his complaint.

After registering an FIR (no.227 (11) 2010) under section 292 (sale, etc.

of obscene books, etc) and 500 IPC of Singjamei police station arrested the student on Tuesday.

He was produced in a local court today and remanded into police custody for further investigation into the crime, a police officer said.

Circulating of such fake porn video clippings inscribing names of local women and girls have been very common in Manipur in the last few years.

Some of the clippings circulated through mobile blue tooth are real ones taken in restaurant cabins.

Meanwhile, police arrested a private tuition teacher who allegedly harassed one of his girl students after the girl refused to accept his marriage proposal.

He was later released on bail.

Thiyam Sanjoy Singh (27) son of Th Debendro of Toubul Awang Leikai presently staying at ISKCON, Sangaiporou Mamang Leikai was arrested and produced in the local court and released on bail.

After the girl refused his marriage proposal, Sanojy used to send e-mail messages to the girl expressing his love and desire of her.

One such message was mailed on 30/08/2010 .

This greatly annoyed the girl and she suffered from mental agony as it interfered her private life and her modesty, said her father in his complaint to the police.

The father of the girl has shown the ISKCON authorities the e-mail messages and letters of Sanjoy.

He had requested the accused to stop harassing his daughter but Sanjoy continued harassing her.

Instead of stopping his activities, Sanjoy started abusing him in presence of many devotees calling his wife a whore and threatened to cut his throat and suck his blood.

The father said his daughter is afraid to be alone as the accused keeps lurking around of her.

On another occasion the accused tried to attack him with a stick.

He said criminal acts are still continuing.

The said acts of the accused amount to criminal intimidation, and an attempt to cause grievous hurt to him and his daughter who is a minor, he added.
