Imphal, November 04 2010:
The Manipur People's Party (MPP) has submitted a memorandum to the Prime Minister appealing to inform the people of Manipur about the position and whereabouts of UNLF Chairman RK Meghen alias Sanayaima at the earliest in the interest of democracy.
The MPP is deeply perturbed and surprised at the complete silence of the Government of India on the alleged arrest of Meghen at Dhaka on September 29 last.
Though it is normal practice of any democratic Government not to conceal the facts of the arrest of anybody, neither the Government of India nor the Government of Manipur has made any official announcement regarding the whereabouts of RK Meghen till date.
The stoic silence being maintained by Government of India regarding the whereabouts of Meghen has created unrest amongst the people of Manipur while many organisations have been demanding information of his whereabouts.
"We do not consider it justified to allow such a sensitive issue to linger on.
We are apprehensive of an uncontrollable eruption of mass agitation and unrest in the State", the MPP informed the Prime Minister through the memorandum.
