Chairman of Manipur Industrial Development Corporation (MANIDCO) MLA Mangi today inspected the progress of the construction work going for Sericulture Project under MANIDCO at Sangaipat in Imphal East district.
The Chairman also inspected the sites for construction of RCC and bailey bridges at Kumbi area.
Officials of MANIDCO and contractors concerned accompanied the Chairman during the inspection which began from 8 am today.
Later talking to media-persons, Mangi informed that the total land area acquired so far for the purpose of expansion of the Sericulture Project at Sangaipat is 23.5 acres.
The constructions of the office building including the administrative block is being targeted to complete by November this year, he added.
Some of the buildings for which construction work is going are one administrative main building, one double-storeyed dormitory for male and another dormitory for female, one cocoon market shed, one cocoon storage, one multi-in-one and one cocoon storing building.
The construction work of these buildings commenced towards the end of last year.
Every possible efforts are being made to complete the work within the set target, the Chairman said.
After the inspection of the Sericulture Project at Sangaipat, the MLA went to Kumbi Kendra inspected the sites for construction of bridges over Khuga river including one RCC bridge near Kumbi Bazar.
The project report for construction of the proposed RRC bridge send by PWD has been approved by the DONER Ministry and the required sanction awarded under NLCP, the MLA said, adding that the construction work of the same would begin very soon.
Considering the aspiration of the local people for a temporary bridge in place of the one damaged in the strong current of Khuga river before going ahead with the construction of the RRC bridge, the MLA assured that necessary steps would be taken in this regard very soon.
