Recognising the need for proper career planning for the students, Human Capital, a human resource development centre based at Imphal joined hands with Gurukul Online Learning Solutions, one of India's premier elearning company in a organising a three-day workshop on career counselling, first of its kind in the State, which began from today Mass Hotel here.
Over the next two days, experts from Gurukul Online Learning Solution would be interacting with the students and their parents in discussing on various career options that a student can choose from and find out the aptitude required for pursuing these careers.
On the first day of the workshop today, Mangirish Bhadari and Tripi Shah, the two experts from the elearning company who are conducting the workshop as resource persons, explained to their participants on the difference between job and career and said the elements of excitment, interest, strength or weaknesses, personality traits, intelligence quotient (IQ) and emotional quotient (EQ) some of the parameters which differentiate a job from that of a career.
To arrive at the best career decision and achieve success as well as satisfaction, the students need to understand their aptitude, they said, adding that Career Perference Test (CPT) is on such means of finding out the latent potentials of the students.
Emphasing on the need for undergoing CPT before arriving at a career decision, Mangirish Bhadari further explained the test would properly assess the various aspects of the general mental ability of the students like verbal ability, numerical ability, reasoning ability, scientific aptitude and spatial apperception (ability for visualisation), problem solving skills and general awareness.
The techniques of the the CPT is said to be the one adopted by Jayanti Ghose, who is a leading career counsellor in her own right in the country.
The experts also presented demo on various career options ranging from medical to engineering and management.
Students from various schools and their parents turned up to participate in the workshop.
