Imphal, January 11:
The Naga Hoho has maintained that New Delhi, Thimpu and Yangon should exercise caution while making any plans to mobilize military actions.
The statement of the apex Naga body has come amidst reports of ongoing military build up and skirmish in the Naga inhabited areas of Myanmar by the junta regime to flush out NSCN-K cadres and other militants reportedly sheltering there.
Earlier, the NSCN-Ks bitter rival NSCN-IM, reacting to the reports of the ruthlessness of the ongoing massive military build up and operations in Naga villages in Myanmar, had also strongly deplored the action by the Myanmarese junta and warned that such action could derail the ongoing peace process.
The Naga Hoho president M Vero talking to The Sangai Express appealed to "India, Bhutan and Myanmar" to exercise caution while embarking on any steps towards military operation in the region.
"The peace process is on and there is atmosphere of positivity and hope for peace all around.
None should try to be very over smart and jeopardize the process", Vero bluntly commented referring to movement towards military actions aimed at wiping out NSCN-K cadres in Myanmar.
"One should not try to be very smart on this issue", he said.
He warned that no action should be resorted which could harm the atmosphere of peace.
When asked to comment on the ongoing massive military build up in the Naga areas of Myanmar and clashes between the Myanmarese and Naga undergrounds, he said "I dont know exactly what was planned, it is in the wisdom of India, Bhutan and Myanmar.
But it is my appeal to these three Governments to exercise caution at this crucial juncture".
He also said that if need be all should be ready to help the fleeing Naga civilians from the affected areas.
"Although we are yet to hear of civilians fleeing, it is important that everyone should be ready to help them if they come to Nagaland seeking shelter and protection", said the veteran Naga leader.
It may be recalled that about a thousand Naga villagers including women and children fled from the ruthless operation of Myanmarese military regime the last time the Myanmarese army pounded Naga villages claiming that they were flushing out "Naga terrorists".
Meanwhile, angered by the news of actions by the "ruthless Myanmarese junta", the NSCN-IM also came out with a strong warning that such kind of operation would endanger peace in the region.
"We will be in no position to condone such action if perpetuated upon our Naga brothers," the NSCN-IM said in a communiqu issued by its ministry of information & publicity wing.
The NSCN-IM also cautioned that any clandestine deal or talks between India and Bangladesh leading to military operation in Bangladesh "would derail the talks (ongoing peace talks)".
