The second death anniversary of the then SDO of Kasom Khullen Dr Thingnam Kishan, Revenue Mandal Yumnam Token and driver Aribam Rajen would be observed at their memorial site at Gandhi Ghat, Uripok on February 17 .
Addressing a press conference in connection with the commemorative event at Manipur Press Club here today, Soram Tikendrajit, chairman of the JAC Against the Brutal Killing of Dr Kishan, Token and Rajen, said that the objective of the observance is to ensure deliverance of justice and to pray for peaceful repose of the departed souls in their heavenly abode.
Then SDO of Kasom Khullen Sub-division, Dr Th Kishan and his two sub-ordinate staff were abducted and bludgeoned to death by some armed cadres of NSCN (IM).
They were abducted from Ukhrul and their bodies were recovered from a place in Senapati district.
Tikendrajit said that the case over the triple murder has now reached the Gauhati High Court and CBI is investigating into it.
A special court of the CBI has already started hearing of the case.
Moreover, the full hearing of the case filed by the father of Dr Kishan in the Gauhati High Court praying to probe the alleged role of the then Deputy Commissioner of Ukhrul, Pankaj Kumar Pal in the triple murder is due to be conducted on February 18, Tikendrajit informed.
Convenor of the JAC Y Kapur, who was also present during the press conference, informed that the commemorative event to be held on February 17 at Gandhi Ghat would begin from 8.30 am along with paying of floral tributes at the memorial sites of the three victims.
At the occasion, an anthology of poems, titled 'Golden Flowers and Other Poems' would also be released and there would be recital of their respective poems by noted Manipuri poets/poetesses like B Jayantakumar Sharma, Sribiren, S Bhanumati Devi, Raghubir Thiyam, Salam Tomba, Kh Anandini, Ksh Subadani Devi, H Jandho Devi, Ch (Ongbi) Subadani Devi and Saratchand Thiyam, Kapur further informed.
Among the demands of the JAC, the Government has allotted a plot of land in between Uripok Cheirap Court and Gandhi Ghat for construction of a memorial park in remembrance of the function, he added.
The JAC has appealed to all concerned not to impose any bandh, blockade or general strike on February 17 .
