Imphal, November 26 2009:
The JACs of Sanjit and Rabina have decided not to extend any kind of cooperation to central teams and teams coming from other States in connection with the July 23 twin killings.
A joint press release issued by the two JACs recalled that bereaved families and the agitating people were visited by a BJP Parliamentary team on August 18, National United Women Front on August 20, Union Home Secretary GK Pillai on August 22, DR Ramachandra Dom (CPI-M) on September 4, Agatha Sangma on October 20 , fact finding team and members of national media, senior Editor NDTV Mr Gokhale on November 14 and Asian Legal Resource Centre.
It is surprising that the Central leaders are unable to penalise Chief Minister Okram Ibobi for giving false report of the fake encounter in the State Assembly even as it almost four since the incident, the JACs remarked.
"If the killers are not punished this time, no one would dare shout for punishment and justice when people are killed under similar circumstances in future", the JACs asserted.
Questioning whether people should suffer silently when people are being killed wantonly and human rights violated blatantly, the JACs made a fervent appeal to the people to raise in union and punish the guilty persons.
They called upon all to join in the struggle to save Manipur.
Observing that some people have come out with the ultimatum to self immolate themselves in case the guilty police personnel are not punished and Chief Minister O Ibobi resigns on moral ground, the JACs cautioned that any attempt to thwart the suicide bid would result in more intense agitation in different forms.
