'Mareipak ningba Koirengsana' to be staged

Imphal, August 11, 2013: In connection with the Patriot's Day on August 13, Manipur State Shumang Leela Council will stage a shumang leela titled 'Mareipak ningba Koirengsana' at Iboyaima Shumang Leela Shanglen here at 2 pm of the day.

Addressing media persons at the Shanglen today, Advisor of Manipur State Shumang Leela Council Naba Wareppa informed that as a part of its every year observance, the Council is all set to showcase the said shumang leela on August 13 as a part of its second observance this year.

He said, the said shumang leela is directed by him and written by Phurailatpam Gunachandra Sharma, President of the Council.

Y Nilachandra will act as Koirengsana and Tomba as Thangal General.

The controller i.e.the one who looks after any mistake of the leela is Sougrakpam Hemanta, Secretary of the Council.

"Mareibak ningba Koirengsana is a shumang leela under the patriotic theme and created by a special group as a special project", Wareppa said.

S Hemanta informed the journalists that for the said leela to be able to showcase in front of the people, a training has been going on at the Shumang Leela Shanglen from August 1 to 12. Some new artists selected from the recently held monthlong shumang leela workshop are also participating in the said training.

They alongwith the existing artists are given training on how to act in a shumang leela, Hemanta said and added that alongwith bringing out hidden talents of the new artists the occasion will serve as an opportunity of the shumang leela artists to present a patriotic gift.

He went on to say that 'Mareipak ningba Koirengsana' will be presented to the aufience at 2 pm of August 13 as a part of the closing function of the ongoing training programme, which will be graced by E Chand, MLA Yaiskul AC and Bijoy Koijam, Former MLA as chief guest and president respectively.

The said shumang leela is an artform which is playable in high script.
