The Plan size of the State, for the current fiscal year 2009-2010, has been finalised at Rs 2000 crores, which is an increase of Rs 340 crores from the previous fiscal year, during a joint meeting between Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh and Deputy Chairman of Union Planning Commission Montek Singh Alluwalia at New Delhi today.
According to an official source, the meeting between the Chief Minister and the Deputy Chairman of the Planning Commission was convened again today, as the Plan size of the State could not be finalised last time after Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh walked out of the meetinbg in anger, when the Planning Commission proposed to grant lesser than the proposed Plan amount of the State.
Finalisation of the State plan was delayed due to Parliamentary election.
In today's meeting, the Plan size of the State was finalised at Rs 2000 crores including Rs 661 of SPA fund.
The SPA fund has also been increased by Rs 161 crores from the last fiscal.
As the State plan size for the current fiscal year, the State Government had proposed an increase of 20 percent from the plan amount of the last fiscal year.
The Chief Minister had also met the Union Finance Minister in this regard yesterday.
The priority areas of the State Government in the current fiscal year include social services sector, irrigation and flood control and energy.
It may be noted here that MP Dr Meinya had also taken up the issue pertaining increasing the plan amount of the State in the Parliamentary.
