Imphal, December 26 2012:
Taking serious note of the unfolding scenario over the December 18 incident at Chandel, an all political party meeting chaired by the Chief Minister was held on December 25 at 3 pm at the CM's Secretariat wherein it was decided that a team be deputed to Delhi to apprise the situation to the Prime Minister and the Union Home Minister.
The State unit of the Naga People's Front has however expressed its stand against the proposal to depute a team to Delhi.
Speaking to The Sangai Express, secretary of the party, Athuan Abonmai said that during the meeting, the NPF had made it clear that going to Delhi now is not the right move.
The priority of the State Government should be to defuse the situation, said Athuan Abonmai and added that he along with the president of the party, Soso Lorho were present at the meeting.
After minutely deliberating on the situation the meeting adopted four resolutions.
Condemning the incident as inhuman, representatives of all the political parties at the meeting also expressed their concern over the inconveniences caused during the general strike.
All the political parties agreed to urge the Government of India to hand over Livingstone Anal, the accused in the December 18 incident, to the State Government at the earliest to initiate necessary action under the law.
The political parties also urged the JAC of Artistes, Film Forum Manipur and Manipur State Shumang Lila Council to withdraw the bandh considering the hardships faced by the general public.
Similarly, the political parties have also appealed to the United Naga Council to call off the proposed 72 hour counter bandh being called from midnight of December 26, taking into consideration the hardships and difficulties likely to be faced by the public.
It was also decided to depute a delegation of all the political parties to Delhi and meet the PM and Union Home Minister and to apprise of the situation in the State very soon.
