Imphal, September 21 2009:
Coming up with a fresh course of agitation, the Working Committee of the Apunba Lup has called upon all the people of Manipur to march towards the Chief Minister's official residence from all directions in order to oust him from his citadel.
A press release issued by the Apunba Lup said that meira rallies would be taken out all across the State in the evening of September 22, 23 and 24 .
The Apunba Lup pledged that it would put a 'full-stop' to the series of fake encounters with the latest case of Sanjit, Rabina and the five others injured in the history of Manipur.
With the Chief Minister and his supporters still acting apathetic to the nearly two months old people's movement, it has now become a challenge for the people of Manipur to see how long Okram Ibobi and his group can ignore the people's outcry, the Apunba Lup said.
Rather than paying any attention to the people's justified appeal, the Governor, the Home Minister and the Prime Minister have been backing the Ibobi-led Government, the Apunba Lup decried.
With all the appeals and complaints rendered meaningless, the Apunba Lup has no other option but to oust Ibobi from his citadel.
Calling upon all sections of the society to join the movement for toppling Okram Ibobi, the Apunba Lup appealed to presidents, secretaries of local clubs, Meira Paibi organisations, Shinglups and religious leaders to take more pro-active role in order to make the mass movement a success.
It also asked all congress workers at State, district and local levels to give up their posts and stay away from the party.
In case any Congress worker commits the blunder of disregarding the call, they would be viewed and treated in more hostile manner than O Ibobi himself, the Apunba Lup cautioned.
Moreover, all congress offices located in Manipur should be shut down and flags and sign-boards of the party should be removed, it said.
Further demanding a complete halt to all construction activities being carried out under CADA, PDA, Minor Irrigation, Flood Control and PWD, the Apunba Lup cautioned that engineers, SOs, contractors as well as labourers disregarding the demand would never be excused.
It also asked the NHPC to stop supplying electricity outside the State.
The Apunba Lup asked the NHPC to provide electricity to the people of Manipur first.
Recalling that sport-spersons of the state have been repeatedly humiliated by the Govt of India, it appealed to all sports organisations to stop sending/bringing sport-spersons from/to Manipur immediately.
It also appealed to sportspersons to suspend their practice sessions and join the people's movement.
