Imphal, September 19, 2009: Inspector General of Police (Intelligence) LM Khaute has been entrusted to investigate into the incident of recovering a bomb from the high security Raj Bhavan complex yesterday even as four jawans of the CRPF posted at the Governor's residence have been suspended.

In the aftermath of the bomb scare, security measures have been further tightened with the prohibition imposed on entry of vehicles, including security vehicles.

With the exception of those vehicles belonging to the VIPs, no other vehicles would be allowed to pass past the Raj Bhavan Gate.

A top police official talking to The Sangai Express on condition of anonymity said Director General of Police Y Joykumar has issued an order for the IG (Intelligence) to thoroughly establish circumstances on how the bomb-laden Maruti Car got inside the Raj Bhavan.

It may be recounted that the proscribed KCP, Lanheiba Group had claimed responsibility for the attempt to set off the blast inside the Raj Bhavan.

However, a major disaster was averted as the explosive material weighing about 25 kgs could be defused by Police bomb experts.

Preliminary investigation to track down owner of the Maruti car had led to detention of three persons namely Ranjit, Gunamani and Mangi.

The trio were produced before the court of Judical Magistrate First Class today followed by the court's consent for remand of the three in police custody upto October 3. An informed source also conveyed that Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh called on the Governor Gurbachan Jagat at around 4.30 pm today during which the two reportedly had a lengthy discussion on the incident of the Maruti car fixed with explosives getting access inside the Raj Bhavan.

Even though identity of the CRPF personnel was not disclosed, the source confirmed suspension of four jawans, who were assigned on duty at the Raj Bhavan Gate yesterday.

To avoid recurrence of such incident in the future restrictions have been imposed on entry of vehicles beyond the Raj Bhavan gate.

However, the entry prohibition do not cover VIPs and Raj Bhavan staff, added the source.

As an immediate consequence of the restriction, escort party vehicles of the Chief Minister were asked to park outside.
