Even though, the by-election to the 14-Yaiskul Assembly constituency is yet to announce, political parties in the opposition have started chalking out strategies for sending out a common candidate to fight with the ruling parties.
The by-election to the Yaiskul Assembly constituency is to be held to fill the assembly seat lying vacant after the demise of the seating MLA, E Kunjeshwor last month.
The opposition party in the state Assembly, MPP had hold discussion with the BJP for at least five times on the matter of sending a common candidate.
Even though no final decision was taken in the meeting, both the parties have in principle agreed to send out a common candidate, BJP party president, H Borbabu told Hueiyen Lanpao.
The matter has been intimated to the Nationalists Congress Party (NCP) too through its president Radhabinod Koijam, who is also the opposition leader of the state legislative Assembly, he said giving a hint of holding another rounds of meeting with the party in the coming days.
As there had understanding with the Communist Party of India- Marxist (CPM), Manipur State Congress Party (MSCP), communication with the parties has also started establishing.
BJP has no concrete stand that it will send out its candidate in the by-election.
No question of differences between the state establishment and the party at Centre in this regard.
Leaders of the party at centre have agreed to the decision of state BJP.
Clear signal of agreeing to the sending out common in the by-election can also seen from the MPP, Borbabu said expressing his hope that MPP will also take part an important role in defeating ruling congress candidate in the by-election.
For the time being, another source from the Congress said that so far the party is not finalizing the name of the candidate to be sent out in the by-election.
The party will thoroughly discus on the matter of finalizing its candidate.
