Imphal, September 19, 2009: Senior Superintendent of Police, Imphal West district, L Kailun today cautioned the public to remain watchful on any suspicious circumstances to avoid unwanted incidents.

Sr SP, Kailun stated in a press note that an explosive-laden vehicle was detected in the parking area of Raj Bhavan yesterday due to an information provided by a well-wisher among the public.

Because of early detection, explosion, loss of life and damage to property was prevented.

The Sr SP further stated that in view of the incident, it is extremely important to ensure continued cooperation from the general public to prevent such incident in future also.

In order to detect IEDs, grenades, bombs, etc.

the Sr SP issued certain guidelines to the general public.

They are: 1.Avoid unnecessary crowding;
2.Do not allow any unattended vehicle to be parked in front of your house/shop, etc.

If you observe any unaatended vehicle which appears to have been abandoned, alert the police by giving information to the Police Control Room.

If anyone wants to leave his or her vehicle, see that the vehicle is checked with the owner before being allowed to be parked and left behind;
3.Do not touch any suspicious objects left behind;
4.Do not accept any gift/packet from unknown person;
5.Check your surroundings, check any unusual changes;
6.Check any suspicious behaviour of strangers. The Sr SP further informed the general public to note the following points as regards any explosive-laden vehicle, that,
1.Any transfer of vehicle should be done properly and the same should be intimated to the department concerned for record;
2.Vehicle should not be allowed to be used by unknown person;
3.No vehicle should be kept idle/parking without any person/attendant or unattended;
4.Park your vehicle in the areas assigned or parking areas.

In case of any of the above indicated suspicious circumstances is observed, Sr SP Kailun appealed to the public pass on the information to the following numbers.
