Imphal, October 01 2009:
Unlike the previous years, the All Manipur Ethnical Socio-Cultural Organisatin (AMESCO) would not be organising any multi-community Ningol Chakkouba this time.
A press release issued by the AMESCO said that they have to skip Ningol Chakkouba this time because of the serious issue gripping the state in the aftermath of the killing of Th Rabina and Ch Sanjit on July 23 at Khwairamband Bazar.
Recalling that pregnant Rabina was shot dead together with her matured foetus right in front of her two year son in broad day light, the AMESCO observed that the massive people's movement launched against the twin killings has come to such a pass that even students are being put away from their schools.
Saying that it would not organise any Ningol Chakkouba this time in honour of the innocent soul of Rabina, AMESCO appealed to all the women of both hills and valley to pray to the Almighty on Ningol Chakkouba day (October 20) that the cruel incident that claimed the life of Rabina never recur in the years to come.
