Imphal, October 03 2009:
The JACs against the killings of Ch Sanjit and Rabina have expressed reservation over the breaking of silence by CM O Ibobi in two days when people in his constituency are about to be affected due to their 'uncouth mannerism' against some sections of the media.
A joint statement issued by the JACs charged that Ibobi is only considering the interest of people of Thoubal only while adding that the gesture of Ibobi shows his immaturity to be a representative of the state.
Meanwhile, the joint statement also alleged that a suspended Police commando - for involvement in the killing of Sanjit and Rabina - has warned some members of the JACs to end the movement.
This indicates that the government is protecting the 'guilty' commandos and it shows that no action has been taken against the commandos.
It demanded that the seven suspended police commandos be remanded in police custody and they should be placed under strict security vigil.
It also urged the government to make it public whether the weapons issued to the seven suspended commandos have been seized or not and to provide the details of the seven commandos placed under suspension.
Charging that one in every household of Thoubal district is employed in the police commandos or IRB, the statement noted that there are some who have tried to raise their upper hand over Ibobi.
It also noted that there have been cases of misunderstanding among commando personnel from Thoubal and other parts of the state.
The statement asserted that criminal activities in the state could be minimised to some extent if the commandos and IRB personnel are attached to some police stations and their powers are ceased and if they are replaced by some energetic youths.
The personnel's attempt to to regain the amount they spent in bribing for recruitment into service is responsible for the present situation of dishonesty among the personnel.
The atrocities committed by the commandos and their involvement in several criminal activities highlights that they are grabbing the opportunity of the SPF government's insincerity.
If the present trend continues, it would not be long when some police officers will meet their end at the hands of their commandos just for few amount of money.
Noting that the government has used Congress and CPI workers as spy to collect information, the statement asserted that it would be much better if the guilty police commandos are punished.
