A ruling of Gauhati High Court, Imphal Bench today directed the authority of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to submit progress report of the investigation into the July 23, 2009 firing incident at Khwairamband Bazar involving police commandos that killed two people and injured to five others to the court within the next two week.
The ruling of the court was in response to a petition filed by mother of one of the victim Chukham Sanjit, Taratombi in the court of the judges comprising Justice Maibam Binoykumar and Justice Takyenjam Nandakumar.
The court, referring to a ruling passed on December 23 last year, directed the CBI to submit the progress report of investigation into the case within the next two week stating that the hearing of the petition will begin after two week from the state of issue of the order.
During the hearing counsel of petitioner, Khaidem Mani recalled that as per directive of the court, an FIR case was registered with police on the killing of Ch Sanjit by the police against the police commandos based on the news report published in a New Delhi based Tahelka weekly magazine.
