Imphal, November 04 2010: The Secular Progressive Front (SPF) today decided to raise the retirement age of government's employees from 59 to 60 years and that of college teachers from 60 to 62.An order in this regard will be issued at the earliest, official sources said.

The cabinet meeting after three days of consideration has reportedly decided to declare the controversial DPC results for appointment of primary teachers, Hindi primary teachers and Hindi graduate teachers after rectification of some mistakes.

A seating of the cabinet held under the chair of Chief Minister O Ibobi today approved a proposal of the state General Administrative Department (Personnel Division) with regard to the raising of the superannuation age of its employees.

The cabinet approved to increase the retirement age of state government employees from the existing 59 years to 60 years while that of college teachers from the existing 60 years to 62 years, the source said.

It also approved the pay structure of UGC (Universal Grant Commission) for the college teachers.

An order in this regard will be issued shortly, it added.

It may be recalled that the retirement age which was reduced to 58 years for general employees was increased to 59 years by a decision of the same SPF government in December 2006 .

Today's Cabinet decision will benefit hundreds of employees who are due for retirement as most government employees usually attain the age of superannuation in the last week of February.

The Cabinet which sat for three consecutive days also reportedly decided to declare the DPC result for the recruitment of primary teachers, Hindi primary teachers and Hindi graduate teachers after some rectifications.

The source while giving a hint of some mistakes in the DPC results said that it would be declared after rectification of the mistakes as indicated in the finding of the high level committee looking into the matter after it was published by Hueiyen Lanpao.

This media house published the result with alleged concealment at the last minute of pasting it on the notice board of the education (s) department.

In a follow up investigation, the same media house had also carried a report that the DPC results published was approved by the education minister.

The agenda of devolution of power to the Autonomous District Council (ADC) was also discussed for the third consecutive day today but what had transpired could not be confirmed from the source.
