Thoubal police commandos harassing people at Sugnu

Thoubal Police commandos attached to Sugnu PS beats up people for no reason after dusk everyday alleged Kuki Students' Organisation (KSO) Sugnu Gunpi block saying that as a result the bazar wears a deserted look after dusk.
Addressing a press conference held at its office, Thangminlen Haokip, publicity secretary of KSO, Gunpi block said that at nightfall, police commandos in uniform from the Sugnu PS will come drunk and start beating up youths without any provocation.
They will also conduct search operations for youths in houses.
Such wild actions has been witnessed in the last few days, he alleged.
Citing some instances, he recalled that on March 16 around 7 pm, police commandos beat up four persons, Thangboi Baite (28), a teacher of the district council, and his three friends from the Assam Regiment.
The commandos assaulted them after their vehicle (Rakshak) met with an accident near the Sugnu Hospital gate after hitting a motorcycle parked there.
The commandos alleged that the accident was caused by the motorcycle on which Thangboi and his three friends had come with.
They did not stop even though Thangboi's three friends identified themselves to be personnel of the Assam Regiment saying that they were on duty.
He also recalled another instance of commandos beating up three students around three months back.
Demanding appropriate action against the police commandos at the earliest and shifting of the commandos to another place, Thangminlen warned that if the government failed to fulfill their demands they, with the support of the people, will launch various forms of agitations.
