Imphal, August 19 2009:
Union home Secretary, GK Pillai along with Joint Secretary North East in-charge Navin Verma are arriving here on August 21 even as officials of the Union Ministry of Agriculture and Co-operation led by its Joint Secretary Dilip Nath are arriving here tomorrow.
Many other Central officials will also be coming to Imphal tomorrow to attend a two-day seminor on development to be held in Imphal on August 21 and 22. Chief Minister, O Ibobi will also return home from Delhi tomorrow, official sources said.
Among the officials of the MHA to visit Imphal are Home Secretary, GK Pillai and Joint Secretary (North East), Navin Verma.
Navin will be accompanied by his wife.
The team will arrive here on Friday (August 21) while other officials will land here tomorrow.
Apart from attending the seminar, the two officials will also hold interaction with the officials of the Central Security Forces deployed in the state on internal security matters.
The meeting will be followed by rounds of separate meetings with Chief Minister and Governor.
Chief Minister, O Ibobi will be assisted by PHED Minister, TN Haokip, Works Minister, K Ranjit and Education Minister, Jayentakumar.
They have been contacted to assist the Chief Minister during the meeting with the officials, the source said.
Officials of the Agriculture and Co-operation Ministry are arriving in Imphal to inspect the drought situation in the state which Manipur government had declared recently.
The team led by Joint Secretary, Dilip Rath of the Ministry of Agriculture and Co-operation will hold a meeting with the officials concerned of the state government led by Chief Secretary, DS Poonia and discuss on the drought situation in the state with reference to the measures taken up by the state government to combat with it.
The team will also conduct spot inspections at Ukhrul, Churachandpur on the second day of their arrival and valley districts on the third day on (August 22) and will leave Imphal on the August 23. Before leaving Imphal for New Delhi, the team will also call on with state Chief Minister, O Ibobi.
A total of 17 officers of separate Union Ministries including of MHA are also arriving in the state tomorrow to attend development seminar on August 21 and 22. Among other officials who will arrived tomorrow includes secretary DoNER, Jarnail Singh who was former Chief Secretary of the state, Brahmo Choudury, advisor (special plan/northeast), Planning Commission of India and additional commissioner of agriculture and cooperation, SK Bhatia of ministry of agriculture and co-operation.
Other includes A Nanda Kumar, director (SS) of ministry of agriculture, department of animal husbandry, dairying and fisheries, deputy secretary, Raj S Trivedi of ministry of Women and Child Development, Sharda Prasad, director of ministry of labour, Dr OP Mehta, ministry of micro, Small and Medium Entrepreneur, Ashok Kumar, joint administrator (BSNL), ministry of telecommunications, director, Indra Mallo of ministry of Rural Development (NIRD-NERC) Guwahati, deputy advisor, SK Majumdar of ministry of Rural Development, Drinking Water Supply Department, under secretary (planning), North Eastern Council, project director N Sukhajit, NER, Community Resource Management Project for Upland Areas, its Monitoring and Evaluation officer Adrain Marbaniang, under secretary Ravi Chandra, ministry of Human Resource Development (department of school education and under secretary J Lunkim of BSNL, Imphal who is currently staying at Imphal.
