Imphal, December 27 2010:
The proscribed UNLF today denounced the charge of 'waging war against India' against its Chairman as irrelevant and unacceptable.
"Chairman RK Sanayaima is not a guilty man and India has no right to conduct a trial against him.
He is a freedom fighter struggling to regain Manipur's independence.
He cannot be tried in any court in India," said an e-mailed statement of the Central Committee, UNLF dispatched to media houses.
The statement also termed GoI's trial of him as a "mock trial" charging India of trying to eliminate the indigenous peoples of Manipur by suppressing them under its "colonial rule" .
UNLF cannot accept the GoI's story behind the 61 days concealment and the "the arrest" of its Chairman after he was arrested from Dhaka, the statement said.
Media had bravely termed Meghen's arrest as the "Motihari fake arrest" clearly mentioning that he was arrested from Dhaka by a joint team of RAW and their Bangladeshi counterpart on September 29, 2010 .
The production of Meghen saying that he was arrested from Bihar's Motihari by a team of NIA (National Investigation Agency) has opened India's hidden agenda before all other countries, added the e-mailed statement.
The attitude shows that Manipur is under "colonial rule" and that the UNLF reminds that Manipur was never part of India before the merger agreement of October 15, 1949 .
The only option to end the Manipur-India conflict is through a "plebiscite" .
If India wants to end the conflict, UNLF's "plebiscite proposal" should be accepted, the statement reminded.
