With no agreement arrived at regarding the demand for judicial probe into the firing incident in the crowded Khwairamband market on Thursday last, the JAC, formed in connection with the death of a young mother, has decided to launch intensified forms of agitations.
The demand for judicial probe and immediate booking of the police commandos and IRB personnel involved in the indiscriminate firing in the crowded area was turned down by Chief Minister O Ibobi today during a meeting with the representatives of the JAC, who submitted a memorandum containing their demands.
The dead body of the 25-year old five month pregnant housewife Thokchom Rabina is still lying at RIMS morgue since police deposited it two days back as family with the support of the JAC refused except sticking to their demands.
Authority has conducted postmortem to the dead body today even as family refused to receive the dead body till today.
The talk between the chief minister and representatives of the joint action committee formed in connection with the dead of the housewife was held today at 11 am at the office bungalow of the former with regard to the demand put forward by the JAC.
Chief mi-nister reported insisted the representatives of the JAC to conduct a departmental enquiry into the incident instead of judicial enquiry.
However, JAC remained stick to the demand for institution of judicial probe.
Later, the JAC held a meeting this afternoon in which the refusal of judicial probe by the chief minister was strongly condemned stating that it was an unfortunate thing on the part of the state government to conduct judicial inquiry on the firing in the crowded area causing fatalities to the general public.
Secretary of the JAC, Sh Somorjit said as there could brought about an agreement, the JAC has decided to launch agitations with the support of other civil organizations in order to find out the justice in the shooting incident.
As a part of agitation, the JAC will start organizing sit-in protest.
However, the dead body of the woman will be accepted tomorrow to perform religious rites.
The JAC compelled to receive the dead body as she was seven month pregnant.
Meanwhile, the dead body of Chungkham Sanjit died in the shoot out incident has been taken by the family after necessary procedure at RIMS morgue today.
However, the JAC formed in connection with the killing of Sanjit will extend support to any forms of agitations that launched by the JAC formed in connection with the dead of Rabina.
