Imphal, August 11 2009:
The working Committee of Apunba Lup (WCAL) in a strongly worded press release today warned of pouring thunder and bolt of lightning-kind of blitzkrieg over Chief Minister of Manipur and police commandos unless O Ibobi relinquishes his post as the Chief Minister and the police commandos involved in the Khwairamband market killing are given befitting punishment very soon.
An unsigned press release issued today by WCAL which poured vitriolic criticisms over Chief Minister O Ibobi stated that it is time the people took a concrete decision as the present government has turned a deaf ear to the agitations of the people which have come to such a pass.
Therefore, the MLAs and Ministers who are supporting Chief Minister Ibobi must let their stand known to the people at the earliest, the WCAL demanded and warned that the ruling Congress party must take steps immediately to replace O Ibobi.
The press release stated that since the Apunba Lup along with mothers and people have been prevented from submitting a memorandum to the Governor of Manipur in connection with the Khwairamband market incident, a few Meira Paibees of the Apunba Lup today submitted the memorandum the the Governor.
However, since the demands placed by the Apunba Lup and the people are not yet achieved, the agitations will be continued further, the press release announced and sought people's support in trying to oust the present government soon.
It asked the people to join various democratic agitations to be launched by Apunba Lup.
The Apunba Lup thanked the Governor for lending sympathetic ears to the grievances highlighted in the memorandum and also for assuring the representatives of Apunba Lup that the demands will be fulfilled soon.
The Lup expressed its confidence that the Governor will translate the people's complaints into action at the earliest.
Until the Governor fulfills his assurances, the Apunba Lup along with the people will continue various forms of agitations.
The Lup appealed to the people to be prepared to launch various forms of agitations until the demand of removing Chief Minister O Ibobi from his post is achieved.
Despite imposition of curfew, deployment of huge security forces, arrest of agitators and detaining them under NSA and beating up the agitators brutally, the Apunba Lup appealed to the people to pour thunder and bolt of lightning over Chief Minister O Ibobi as and when the slightest opportunity is available.
The Apunba Lup also appealed to the people to alert and ready to teach the MLAs and Ministers, who are supporting the Chief Minister ignoring the public sentiments, a befitting lesson.
