Archbishop of Imphal Rev Dominic Lumon, DD has appealed to all faithful members of the Catholic Church in Manipur to spend the season of Lent (Feb 25 to April 12, a time of personal repentance in memory of Christ's suffering) in the spirit of payer, fasting and charity works as a mark of personal conversion to God and as a sign of hope in human community to life together in love, harmony, peace and progress.
In his 'appeal for prayer and sacrifices to save Manipur', the Archbishop also said that the Catholic community strongly condemns all act of violence, including the heinous crime recently committed against three Government officials namely Kasom Khullen SDO Dr Thingnam Kishan, driver Aribam Rajen Sharma and Revenue Mandal Yumnam Token.
The Church would continue to condemn all sinful acts, pray for the victims of violence and their dear ones and do everything possible towards conversion of sinners and all antisocial elements, the Archbishop assured.
Furthermore, the Archbishop also appealed to the faithfuls not only to eschew violence, corruption and immorality but also to pay a catalyst role in Manipur to bring about social transformation that is desirable to all for authentic human growth and fulfilment, assuring dignity of individual and unity and integrity of our country.
