With the withdrawal of the class boycott stir with immediate effect, Education Minister, L Jayentakumar today appealed to the students to attend schools without fear from tomorrow itself.
Speaking at a press conference held at his official quarter at Bapupara, the Minister said, the four month-long class boycott stir was unprecedented and had deprived the students of their right to education for a long period of time.
He said, from the government's side, they tried their best to end the stir at the earliest.
However, due to inability to concede certain demands of the Apunba Lup, the impasse remained unsettled for a prolonged period of time.
Pressures were given from various sections of the society to end the impasse for the sake of saving the life of the children who are the future pillars of the state, Minister Jayentakumar said.
He observed that the agreement reached today is the right step on part of the state government as well as the people.
As an agreement has been reached, schools will re-open from tomorrow, the Minister said appealing to students to attend class.
He also praised those who took major role in bringing the agitating groups to the negotiating table with the government.
To make up for the loss of classes during the boycott, Minister Jayentakumar said that special free coaching classes for the students who are to appear in HSLC and HSSLC exam 2009-10 will be started.
Special attention will be given to cover the syllabi which were not covered due to the class boycott.
Even though facilities of special coaching was given to the students of government schools in the previous years, this time the same will also be given to the students of private schools, the Minister said.
For the government schools, he will ask schools to conduct classes on the general holidays also except Sunday.
But for the private schools, it is upto them to conduct classes.
If the students are willing to attend classes of certain subjects then, he will hold consultation with the teachers concerned for the same, the Minister added.
