Reminding its August 31 deadline served to the State Government, Indigenous Democratic Front (IDF) has reiterated its stand of going ahead with agitation if the Government fails to fix the date for election to the Autonomous District Council (ADC).
A joint meeting of the representatives from five hill districts namely Senapati, Chandel, Churachandpur, Ukhrul and Tamenglong held at Chingmeirong District Council Hall, Imphal has also reaffirmed that stand of IDF.
Talking to The Sangai Express after the meeting, vice president of IDF Ukhrul Unit Sony Zimik said that the representatives all the five district had a brain storming deliberation on the ADC issue and unanimously resolved to fight for the Constitutional rights of the indigenous people.
Questioning the silence of the Government over the ADC issue, he also come out strongly against the 20 tribal MLAs in the State for not understanding the aspiration of their own people.
In connection with the August 31 deadline already served to the Government, he said that if the Government fails to announce a definite date for holding the election to the ADC, IDF would go ahead with its line of action.
Apart from launching various intense agitations in the State, the matter would be brought to the notice of the Centre through protest demonstration at the National capital, he informed.
