The All Manipur Anti-Drug Association (AMADA) has published a half-yearly report of its activities today at its head office.
The half-yearly report was released by AMADA vice-president L Krishnamohon Mangang.
According to the report, from December 20 last year till June 20 this year, altogether 49,844 litres of country made liquor, 211 bottles of IMFL, 211 numbers of utensils used in brewing in liquor, 8844 kgs of chaknam, 1400 kgs of chamang, 138 kgs of hamei, 718 bottles of Recodex/Biorex, two grams of heroin (no 4), 2773 strips of SP capsules, 37 bottles of beer, one country made pistol, 17 vehicles used in transporting liquor, 61,817 packets of Raja khaini, 28,817 pieces if talab, 6784 Zarda packets, 10860 number of Khaini and 43 strips of N 10 tablets.
The total monetary value of the seized liquor, drugs and tobacco items was estimated at Rs 38,51,717.During the half-yearly drive, 369 male bootleggers and 418 female bootleggers were pulled up while the respective number of SP capsule pushers were 27 and 13.
Eight heroin dealers including three women were also pulled up in addition to 272 male and 19 female liquor consumers.
During the same period, 108 SP capsule abusers including one woman were also pulled up and 34 heroin abusers including two women were nabbed.
Moreover, 7 women ganja smokers were also apprehended.
Altogether 1272 drug/liquor abusers were counselled and reprimanded during the six months' period when 27 new local councils of AMADA were opened.
Utensils seized from liquor brewers were distributed to 15 social organisations in two phases.
In tandem with its anti-drug and anti-liquor drive, AMADA has also launched 'Sports Development Mission' by opening a multi gym on February 10 this year, mentioned the report.
It also noted that several rounds of academic awareness programmes against drug abuse were also conducted in various schools.
Other activities of AMADA during the same period include re-arrest of drug addicts fleeing from rehabilitation centres, taking out Meira Rally against killing of child by one drug addict, organising blood donation camps etc.
The half-yearly report also mentioned some instances where AMADA activists sustained casualties or were intimidated during their drive.
One such instance was physical assault on AMADA Kwakta local council by some SP capsule abusers and pushers on December 31 last year.
