TODAY -
When the music has gone
Kay Kay *
It is true,
When the music has gone
The hum of the night is
What I hear to-night
To the greatest of my fear.
Oh Solitude!
Loneliness makes me nervous,
I must have some music;
Bring me my summer wine,
With a cupful of music,
And a couple of empty bowls
To shed my share of tears
In pain and pleasure both.
Now is the time
To fix the stars and the moon
Up in the sky above
And darken the clouds underneath
To crystallize them into heavy metals
To compose a music for a soul.
It is true,
When the music has gone,
I’m here alone
Standing on a pedestal
Like a figure in a dream.
