What If
Omila Thounaojam *
What if we are victims of the day
Caught up in the whirlwind of history still playing its role
What if they say fall on your knees and plea
Just accept the dictum with a kind of mind that has gone all blank
What if self-conceited men in power manipulate
Keep on strangulating those who always spoke and stood for truth
What if women are still abused and tortured
Treated like wind-up dolls by those with mask on
In the guise of the best liberals in existence
What if advanced policies just preach and do nothing good
Actions most relevant are pushed into the corner no one could even see
What if practical selfless men, women and children
Are labeled Enemy of the People and is the order of our time
What if things all grey are hailed best and
Colors of life in lieu of sources of the best human virtues are rejected…
Cries of those in pain have filled up spaces all kinds
Sometimes in the middle of each night even our Mother Earth cries in silence
No one to be there besides to listen and to console her
With even those who come to rescue her are murdered and buried deep alive
This is the turbulent hour offered to mankind by those men
Who just thought of Power to be a Factory generating profits even at the cost of lives
Oh innocent time! When did you come and depart- no one has a clue
Hope the darkness of our time is sanctified by the healing touch of good souls.
Hope inward eyes of those blinded by the glittering effects of power and pride
Are no more under the hypnotic dark spell of prejudices
What if healing this world suffering from deadliest disease
Will happen and the magical cure to all deadened orders will ceased forever
With you, me and all working together for the most desired social order.
