True Love
Donald Lairenbam *
The beauty of a red rose;
Who could best define?
The busy bee only hums about;
The nightingale only sings for its charm;
The maid only waits for it to bloom,
To pluck it and keep it to impress her lady;
The gardener wouldn't even realise its presence.
So does your silent beauty;
None could e'er see it,
Except a lone heart that nurtures it,
Somewhere in the depth of sheer loneliness;
Go ask this lonesome and weeping heart,
Who that sings by the day and weeps in the quiet night;
And all that answer you'll find is Love, true Love!
