The Indian Institute of Tropical Meteorology (IITM) is an autonomous Institute fully funded and administered by the Ministry of Earth Sciences, Government of India. It functions as a National Centre for Research in Tropical Meteorology and has scientifically and academically stimulating environment for research in applied and fundamental aspects of ocean-land-atmosphere interactions in the tropics. The Institute derives its strength from co-existence of a group of scientists on theoretical and modeling studies together with a large group of scientists on diagnostic studies and field observations. It has excellent infrastructural facilities such as high performance computers, world class library, workshop, experimental laboratories with latest technology scientific equipments and support for field experiments. It has very strong interlinks with the India Meteorological Department, the University of Pune and several other relevant national and international organizations. It has been recognized by several Indian Universities as a Centre of Advanced Research for carrying out work leading to the award of M.Sc., M.Tech. and Ph.D. Degrees in Atmospheric Sciences and allied subjects.

The Institute has launched several new initiative researches such as the national experiment called Cloud Aerosol Interaction and Precipitation Enhancement Experiment (CAIPEEX). Also a new Centre for Climate Change Research (CCCR) is being established at the Institute to address all science issues related to climate change. The IITM is looking for recruiting bright talented candidates for the following positions to do research in the areas of
(i) Development of a Dynamical Prediction System of Seasonal Mean Monsoon Rainfall,
(ii) Extended Range Prediction System for Active and Break Spells of the Monsoon,
