Our room of three years
Dorsy Hodam *
Her eyes, following me
Observing every move, I make.
I grabbed my jeans and tee
Remembering things, I need to pack.
Acting ignorant, I hovered around
Making sure nothing is left behind.
Not a sound came from her,
Nor a wobble in that body of hers.
Just her eyes move around
Without a change of the mark.
In her usual corner, sat she
All curled up, intoxicated.
Three years have gone by
With this silence between us.
Clash of personalities, is what they say.
Nevertheless, we were never one
One room; but never one.
For once, never had she any interest
But in this last moment
What change overcame her, who knows?
Everything in their old places,
Finally, ready to leave.
Only then, I met her eyes,
To say the necessary Goodbye...
"I know you will be there one day, unlike me
The house you have always dreamt of
With the garden and library,
A quiet happy content life
And a dog, wasn't it?"
With a smile said she,
Dumbfounded for a moment, I stood
Nothing I can return but a smile.
I turned around and closed the door
Leaving behind forever,
Our room of three years.
