Mother
Kabidung Thaimei *
Lovers are many, friends are thousands, but you're never two,
Who begot me, my wisdom, my strength and all I possess.
Void and empty I'd be, without you.
Thank thee. O God, for thy hands have made a heroic mother for me,
Her love has begun, even before she saw me,
When in her womb I was borne.
Before I could speak, she understand what I need.
In youngest days of mine,
In her arms I hung, with loincloth.
In your bossom sometimes, puked on, pooped on, peed on,
In the gales, in her lap I laid safely.
O, those lullaby, when I was kid you sang, bring me endless nostalgic,
Vividly alive in my inward eye that resings, which is my bliss in sorrows.
In disappointment, her humming song, she use to comfort me,
Still erase my heartache till the day,
The pain of her precious rod, of my childhood, haunt me forever,
And that makes me all difference from peer.
In my evil days, those are her advise that wins my mind to opt the good.
In my tempest hour, those are her prayer. That victory over my own flesh.
Her prayer go ahead of me a miles before I go,
And a lantern that lights my feet in thorns to move on.
When the world rejected me, in her open arm I build my hope.
Near, far, am I be from her, her heart never live in my absence.
In absence of your love, nothing can replace the space left in my heart.
To forgive is yours, to owe is mine
That only a motherly love can prove.
Millions of ways I tried to reply the best of mine I owe to you
But failed in million of ways.
No more love like yours, though I could search the whole world over.
For ages who ages you shall be remmembered Mom.
