JAC Against the Brutal Killing of Kang - the bloody mosquito

Back in real time, I tried to reason with the brothers and sisters of Kang. I tried defending my actions. I said it was all self-defense as she bit me first. And that my actions are legally protected under Indian Penal Code.

In hindsight, I think that was a pretty bad idea. That pulled the trigger to their already frayed egos and temper. And within seconds, I was gheraod by thousands of mosquitoes, who demanded justice for their fallen comrade. Maybe, I should have known better. Maybe, I should have known when to shut up.

Maybe, I should have said it was a mistake. Apologize and move on. Or maybe, I should have just killed them all. But whatever the 'maybes' the fact remains that I was screwed, cornered by the brothers and sisters and the well wishers of Kang on all sides. In their eyes, I was a cold blooded killer, a psychotic murderer, a beast who needs to be locked up in the Arkham Asylum for life.

Personally, the way these mosquitoes mate and breed, I found it weird that they are making such a big fuss about the death of a loser of a living being. I just don't understand them. And in turn, they don't understand me, why I killed Kang and why it was all self-defense. It can be however said that from their perspective, I must have neatly fitted in the super villain profile- big, bad and ugly.

Anyways, that's not the point. That bloody mosquito was sucking my blood. My blood. What the hell was I supposed to do? Act like some bloody Buddhist monk, and let her suck in peace. But as I have obviously not acquired any degree of enlightenment, killing her was just a natural basic reactionary instinct of humankind, which was beyond my control. But this is exactly what they failed to understand.

One of them, a supposed BFF of Kang, pleasantly pointed out that if the mosquitoes are not supposed to suck blood, what the f**k are they supposed to suck? Dirt, huh?.... and as for my mentioning of the IPC, they contended that they recognized no human law. Whether its Indian Penal Code or Mankind Penal Code, they just don't give a damn.

Basically, they felt disgusted and pissed by the fact I have taken the shield of human legislation after the killing. They termed the killing as an 'arbitrary and senseless display of power by those who can'. They conceived such acts as threats to the existence of their whole mosquito species; a gross violation of their rights to exist as living beings. No wonder there were such a downpour of abuses, when their hatred was so real. They refuse to budge, proclaiming that they will bear no more, suffer no more.

The message was made clear when without further ado; a JAC (Joint Action Committee) was formed, condemning the killing. And as its first action, of showing solidarity to the family of Kang, the JAC Against the Brutal Killing of Kang called for a 24 hours general strike. They called it the mourning period. They called for a total shutdown for the next twenty-four hours, barring emergency services.

They appealed to all its fellow mosquitoes, far and wide, to stand united in what will now be a fight for justice, peace and the mosquitoes' way of life. They even appealed to the whole of humankind to respect the sentiments of the mosquitoes and called for a total observation of the strike; the consequences of the non-compliance of which, the JAC will not be in any way held responsible or liable. I almost LOL.

A general strike by the mosquitoes. Seriously, who they are kidding, man? And what they are going to do during the strike anyway? They will refuse to suck human blood for the next 24 hours or what. Well, if that's the case then, for 70 percent of the population of India (as demarcated by the National Anthem), it would mean freedom, temporary freedom from the itchy, bitchy, sticky thing called 'odomos'.

However, as the best laid plans and thoughts of humankind are subject to the eccentricities and the anomalies of time, fate had something else in store for me. And the way it turned out, I was wrong, bloody wrong about these bloody mosquitoes. I had prepared myself not to give a shit about them or the strike, and pretend that nothing had happened.

But it was not to be so. Because, within seconds, messages and press releases started pouring in from a myriad of mosquito organizations, clubs, associations etc., condemning the killing and showing their support to the family of Kang, in their hour of need. Further, they answered the call of the JAC with great gusto, promising to stand by the JAC, and to take part in their struggle to re-affirm the mosquitoes' way of life.

Frankly, I was unaware that the mosquitoes were such an organized lot, with such number of registered clubs and organizations and societies. To be really to the point, I had no idea that the mosquitoes have even an organized body till now. I assumed mosquitoes to be, well, just mosquitoes. I expect them to eat, sh*t, die and mate in between.

But, it seems that the life of a mosquito is not as crude and uncomplicated as I imagined them to be. And it totally blew my mind. My walls of dark prejudice got breached and the light of realization dawned upon me: that indifference and neglect stings more than direct spite and open enmity. It was quite an eye opener.

And damn, the first thing I saw- those bloody mosquitoes, who were supposed to return with the Kang's body (or whatever was left of it) to perform her last rites, were staging a sit-in-demonstration. Some makeshift placards were put in hastily and loudspeakers were brought in from nowhere to voice the 'propaganda' to the masses.

But whatever they were saying, I got only bits and pieces. Maybe the loudspeakers were of bad quality, or maybe the battery was down (there was no electricity that time). They should have tag along a generator also, I thought wryly. Anyways, from what I heard, I got 'mass agitation', 'mass rally', 'fast to death', 'peaceful', 'justice', 'demands' quite frequently while the rest was in gibberish.

In a way, that was pretty cool. Because those were the only words worth hearing or words 'needed' to be heard. And it was enough. The message was delivered with deadly simplicity. The movement began.

Concluded...
