Information For Vitiligo Sufferers

Please allow me to introduce myself first so that I can get your comments about my views in sharing my depigmentation stories as a success treatment for those who are suffering from vitiligo when none of the re-pigmentation treatment works for him/her. Today, I am making this FB profile so that most of vitiligo sufferers can choose the Depigmentation option if he/she finds it tough to leave their life.

I am a North East Girl having vitiligo from the past 15 years. I have taken various treatments by various doctors, but nothing has a made a single white spot leave my skin. I never ever took it seriously and never had put efforts on my own to make it leave as because childhood days were careless for all. But when I realized my mistake, I have always try to rectify it and also start looking for different options but none of them works by May 2014.

I hate myself and feel uncomfortable in meeting with anyone because I somehow felt it is the most neglected skin condition without enough medical guidance and social acceptance.

In schooldays, my class fellow doesn't like me to be friends for them nor they like to sit and eat lunch with me. Elders in neighbors taught their children not to be in touch with me otherwise they would also affect.

Before people unaware about my vitiligo, they do not have any problem with me but when they come to know that I have Vitiligo, most of them silently withdraw from me. While some of them says me that it didn't make any difference, and should not mean anything to you however no one never ever KNOW HOW I FEEL BY THIS SKIN CONDITION .

I am very sensitive to the way other perceives me and they often withdraw, because they anticipate being rejected. Maybe this is one of the reasons that I find it difficult to meet with friends/any people. Sometimes, strangers, even close friends, relatives, neighbours, etc make extremely hurtful and humiliating comments, knowingly or unknowingly. Who better can understand this than me?

Many a times I sit and cry thinking that things would change completely in my life once these spots come on my hand or face then People will start rejecting my life because of it? It has been destroyed many beautiful relationships because of lack of understanding and yearning for physical beauty especially in remote areas.

I find myself in a helpless situation where I am being stigmatized silently, misunderstood, segregated upon, stared at and a times ridiculed for a condition you didn’t know a jack how it came about, don’t have any help nor control for, you wouldn’t feel or understand how hard it can be for one to struggle to live positively in the midst of trials, challenges & difficulties such as Vitiligo.

Why do people not understand my situation and why can’t they make me feel comfortable in it? I hope it is an urgent need to create socially acceptable environment for the Vitiligo affected individuals because we feel stigmatized and psychologically devastated.

Please understand I need your support in finding the vitiligo affected person in your area so that I can share and put up their mind to let them better and happier that there's a treatment that works for them too. I am 100 percent sure that those who are affected may have been trying to hide it and even their family members must have been helping in doing so......

(Please note reference may be provided to the sufferers or to their parents, It took me about 3yrs to find a right Doctor who can help in each and every part of the depigmentation process, have tried to consult with few vitiligo specialist by sharing my stories but many of them do not suggest depigmentation, only one of the doctor's was ready to see my case but unfortunately due to financial problem I could not go and consult with him and later on I get to know someone after doing many research work for depigmentation treatment. In short I have started the depigmentation treatment from Aug 2014 and at that time 30-40% of my body is affected with vitiligo and today i am almost near to completion, only 5-10% of my body is left to depigment)
