TODAY -
Independence Day
Shreekant Sadokpam *
Boycott at home demanding independence,
Pompous speech elsewhere celebrating independence.
Segregation and discrimination,
Reservation and corruption,
Blood blood blood,
Here and there.
Blood for justice,
Blood for religion,
Soon to be scarce in blood.
The Mahatma in paper,
Dominating everywhere.
Tension and fire in the east,
Independence day parade in the centre.
Tombs decorated more,
Lives in tension uncared for.
Come let's cry out "Jai hind"
And celebrate more such days,
While we go behind.
