Good bye to mother Manipur
Prof Indra Mohan Jha *
Good bye, sweet mother, good bye
Thy goddess of love and beauty,
The sacred land of fraternity
Art thou not the heaven?
Which has been alluring for centuries
And men with hearts and soul;
Will be allured for centuries to come
I touched thy lotus feet years ago;
With devotion and love.
Thou put in thy lap hurriedly and happily;
Patted with heavenly touch to disdained heart.
Acquainted with forest, rivers, valley and hills;
mingled with colourful customs, manners and skills.
Thy beautiful, benign heart,
nourished to the utmost content.
The enough strength, never to faint.
Thou graced with field and seeds;
divine skill to yield the fruits,
Amidst the evils and greed;
enabled to face and set free
Alas! tiny hands reached not much above the mark.
0, thou goddess of love and serenity,
ideal image of courtesy and care.
Forgive, the child’s faults.
Bless to twinkle for day to come,
With virtue, courage and love
Let the pigeon, be left free to fly
Good bye mother, good bye.
