"Gold painted road between Churachandpur and Sugnu"
Traffic managers need to work consistently for public convenience rather than concentrating on smooth passage of VIP vehicles.

KhamLianLal Zou @Khams Zotal *

There is a road which remained unrepaired, the name of the road is famous itself with the dust and muddy, it's name is "Churachandpur to Sugnu Road" some described the road as "the only road which is painted like a gold color". But actually is it not a real gold painted road, instead it is fully cover with thick dust and muddy from season to season. Though the areas have a great public leader it remains stable for development and that is why people called the area as "The Dark continent".

Why should we keep mum when things are not undertaken, unappropriated management, when things are ignored, the needs of the people is not met, we don't deserved to let live under such terrible circumstance if we stand and work together. Peoples living within the 28 Km suffered a lot, It is true one can wonder why it is not among the Guinness Book of World Records as one of the dustiest and muddiest road ever in the states, or one can worry-why isn't amongst Wonders of the World because the roads looks like a well painted road with the worthy gold and silver.

Churachandpur to Sugnu road (well know with Tuning road) is connecting Chandel District, Thoubal district and our closest-neighboring country Myanmar without passing through Imphal or any other district Headquarters. It is the only life-line of the people. The road connects many villages as much as more than 60 villages.

The said road also runs through three MLA's constituencies, namely; - Singngat A/C, Saikot A/C & Chandel A/C. In 2009 it was once declared that Churachandpur to Sugnu road as a State Highway, when it is compare with other State Highway roads, it is not worth to be call as a State Highway with its thickness of dust during winter season.

If accident is prone in the area while there is no muddy-dust on the road, then one cannot avoid saying the road connecting Churachandpur to Sugnu road is prone to accident. I was born in 1990 in a small Village, situated within Churachandpur to Sugnu (which is 17 Km from Churachandpur town). Till then, I can honestly say I have seen a newly construction of pucca-road in the said road.

That was may be during the childhood time when me and my friends crazy with the famous local made "Sing-Gari" (Wooden bus one will push and the other will drive within the village). On the other hand, the road isn't only the essential needs for the area inhabitant; it is also an important road as it links with Churachandpur district Headquarter for procuring essential commodities and selling agricultural and natural resource products.

It is the road where the finest and famous Serou-Leingoi (Serou Sand) supplier trucks passes by every day and night. For instance, the MLA's within its constituency took initiative to repairs the roads but it remained fully unrepair till today leading the people a hopeless living, depression and being neglected when it is compare with the other roads within the state. The current MLA's of 60-Singngat A/C, The MDC Sangaikot TD Block itself is also from the area inhabitants.

This is one of the common concerns of all the people when it talks about the road. We do not blame the entire political leader on these issues as a responsible citizen of the country, I took as it is our responsibility to let know the government as well the people to let know the point where we are standing today and open any eye to the needy society we are living in.

Besides, the road Churachandpur to Sugnu road is well known with its safest and peaceful journey for the travelers as well the people living within the areas. But now and then, the road are totally covered with almost 1feet inches of dust during winter season and it was too thick with muddy that a farmer can sow a seeds on the roads especially on rainy season.

Apart from the road, there are so many problems faced by the people in that areas, the problem may be of no proper electricity supply, no public health-care like pharmacy; dispensary/PHC, in case of an emergency to safe one life, one need to travel a long distance either rush to Sugnu or Churachandpur District Hospital or any private clinic.

While our country India is trying the best to provide proper and equal education to all children below the ages of 14, at least it reach to almost all citizens of the county-both in urban and rural areas. But its seems the schemes that comes from the central government like SSA; ICDS etc. couldn't reach to the people. That leads the children's thirsty for education.

Furthermore, parents were unable to effort sending their children's' in the one and only private institution available (Agape High School, Sangaikot village) that can reach from nursery to class-x standard, since people living in the area mainly depend on one-season (cultivation once in a year).

The economic status will remain undeveloped unless proper roads, electricity, good institution, availability of public health care; media like newspaper, cellular connection is easy accessible and in such people may no longer called the area as "Dark continent" There are many officers and public leaders like the MLA of 60- Singngat A/C, the MDC of Sangaikot A/C, MP of Outer Manipur Parliamentary Constituency are all from the Sagaikot TD Block.

One may wonder why the road remain unrepair since many years; and this is the time for all to seek a newly construction of proper roads and replace the gold painted road with a black tar. Thought the road has its dust on winter and muds on rainy season, it has a continuous movement for the bus to service and it is always the lifeline of the people, trucks with a full loaded Serou-leingoi, and a private motor bikes and vehicles will keep on passing by, how nice it will be If the road remain unrepair and the government along with the political leaders do not take up any action on this matter, it is clear that, thousands and thousands lifeline of the people will be seriously disturb, many school/college going students carrier will definitely be spoil, the health condition of the people will be more like to get illness/sickness with the daily breadth type of dust which is breathing in- breathing out by the people living in the areas.

"We need equality, if there is a wills, there is away, and if there is a wills to repairs the road, we are supposed to step foot on the newly construction of road, the area need to develop like others did, where is the words "equality"?
