From Haigatlang to Spider Web
Soubam Tomba Luwang *
From the womb suddenly flew out
a white pigeon.
The foetus
cried out in fright
with fist clenched tightly
on seeing the Khunukhrang with claw
being seated on the top of an AK rifle.
From the womb the foetus have come out
prematurely before the delivery is due.
The moment when the feet touched the ground
suddenly step on a haigatlang.
But hurled and landed at once
over a vast spider web.
A discussion has been going on
by a group of huge spiders
for the sake of democracy, society, civilization.
The child got freedom
where Kurao Angangba blooms heavily its lovely red dish flowers
inside the courtyard of that spider web only.
Haigatlang : A typical indigenous trap of Manipur.
Kurao Angangba (indica Lam) : A wild tree blooms lovely reddish flowers during April to August but its trunk is found useless for the purpose of timber & even fireworks.
Khunukhrang : Larger Falcon
Manipuri : Haigatlangdagi Mirang
