For a spring season
M Nandakishore *
In this summer heat
I turn and twist enduring it,
Wet with the pus and blood
From the punctured blister wound
On the desert sand of my heart.
None care though they see
And turn away- the problem, that's yours;
Only the months of Inga and Ingel that are close by
Cry sprinkling tear drops
Waiting for that line that ends a chapter.
Of heat and cold, equal on a measuring scale,
Of hands right and left, together in the act of clapping
Of the tune musical score in a contest of songs of love
Of sharing of the honey dew and sweet odour of flowers
Think I seated on the branch of a tree of distant hope.
I desire for a hill of snow to climb,
Crawl will I up it, weak through I am
To cool myself on it now and then; but
I who have lost my ways in the storm,
Wait for a spring season, meanwhile.
