Extra-terrestrial Connection of the Meeteis: Part 1
A Study of Wakoklon Heelel Thilel Salai Amailon Pukok Puya

Ancient writings (puyas) found in Kangleipak (Manipur)
Ancient writings (puyas) found in Kangleipak (Manipur)

Many of the ancient writings (puyas) found in Kangleipak (Manipur) describe that human beings were created by Lainingthou Sanamahi. Mt. Koupalu (now Koubru) is referred as the place where Lai descended from the space and procreated living beings including 'namu taipang mee' (human beings) for the first time.

If these books are not mythological description but hidden science telling us about the origin of the life forms on earth through extra-terrestrial connection, we may have difficulties to accept it. Because many of us still believe in God who created the universe and the living beings on earth. Also we have evolutionary science taught since the school days and other mass media channels.

In this story Sitapa Mapu (Immortal Lord) happens to be a space explorer who descended on primeval earth covered with water (oceanic planet earth) according to the puya. This is supported again by the Genesis of the Bible. The Laiyam (plural of lai) descended on earth for a single purpose under the guidance of Sitapa Mapu.

And that purpose is nothing but the transplantation of life forms including human beings from another planet of another solar system where scientific civilization has been flourishing for a long time. Their sole purpose is to spread and preserve the genetic codes of the living beings including their own by creating (sapa) and reproducing (pokpa) human beings on earth. That is why the puyas and the Bible say that Gods (Laiyam) created human beings in their image and likeness. For many of us it could be a science fiction story of Kanglei (Manipuri) origin which can have a good market in the Hollywood film industry.

But it can also be the beginning of a New Age for humanity to understand what we are and why we are here on earth. Many allegations may come telling that this is a cheap interpretation of the scripture (puya) by a crazy mind full of wishful thinking. Some may be surprised to know the truth that the Maichous of the ancient Kangleipak had science books talking about human sperm, egg, blood, test tube baby, genetic engineering, blood groups, body cells, bones, etc. They were not science graduates from IITs, MIT and DM college of Science.

I have few questions which will be answered based on what has been written in the puya. The rest is for you to accept or reject the hidden science given in the puya supported by other puyas and science. Here, sincere attempts are made to trace the origin of the words nongkaba, nongkumlakpa, nongta, nongthou (Aatinga), nongthak, nongkhong koiba, nonglon, leiron, inungpung, eshaiphu, tillang, phambikon etc.

How did Sitapa Mapu create (sathokhanpa) the seven laipungthous? Again, how did Salailel Sitapa create seven lailup (Lai Nulas) from his 'Sana Huksang Unsa'? If Sitapa Mapu has to use its 'nung-sa sa-tum' for creating the seven laipungthous, it could be only through genetic engineering. Similarly, the seven sapee lailup were created by Salailel Sitapa from his 'sana huksang unsa' through genetic engineering. If they were in flesh and blood, how come they were gods and goddesses?

Besides the Meetei alphabet system developed based on human body parts, the origin of the Meetei numerals and the Laibou Khuthek (Meesem Jagoi) in Lai Haraoba are clear indications of a different course of historical development through scientific intervention of another humanoid race from the outer space. The co-habitation of the Laiyam and Taipang Meeoiba is what the elders called laiga-meega leiminnaringei.

The ancient writings need to be properly researched if we have to make some concrete contribution to the world with the knowledge accumulated by our ancestors through the ages. This is my humble attempt to know the worldview of the forefathers in regards to their understanding of the origin of the universe and the living beings on earth through the prism of science.

The glaciations era covering the earth with water and ice and the geological changes causing the up lifting of the seabed forming landmass are other possible interpretation. But the question is who saw these changes and kept them orally and in written form. This is the interesting part indeed. Are our forefathers among the first evolved men??

The Meetei Genesis:

The Meetei cultural heritage has strong extra-terrestrial connection. Starting from 'Lai Ikouba' we have some outside intervention which caused the separation of the 'nongthou aatinga' and 'Malem Leipak'. The primeval planet discovered by Sitapa Mapu was an Oceanic Planet with no continent. Therefore, water is called 'Malem leiyombi' by the ancients. This knowledge is still handed down through the ritual practice of 'Lai Ikouba' (Invoking the spirit of God from the water) without which we cannot start Lai Haraoba. The primeval earth was covered with cloud and mist all the time.

The finding of land mass (malem leisha) under the ocean and the presence of plenty of water was a great scientific discovery in the space exploration programme of the Lai race. Humanity (Meetei) has been unsuccessful so far to discover any planet where life already exists or where life can be planted. But the space exploration continues.

Regarding the creation of human beings, it is said that man was created in the image and likeness of the Lai. The Lai race and the Namu Taipang Meeoiba can interbreed. The Laiyam are also in flesh and blood like the human beings according to the puya. The seven salais of the Meeteis are nothing but the seven blood lineage of the Lai race. Their long exploration and research conducted under the supervision of Sitapa Mapu led to the successful creation of different life forms, inter-planetary or galactic transplantation of life forms and most importantly the creation of mankind.

The four chaks are the long period signifying the success and failure of the laiyam in their research to create human beings to settle in the new planet. The Kon-chak era was marked by scientific creation of man through genetic engineering/cloning (Naoyom stage).

The first successfully created man according to the puya was 'Mee Khaloupa' created by Lainingthou Sanamahi under his father Salailel Sitapa's supervision after many unsuccessful attempts. With this success, the next era Langpa chak was focused on spreading humanity through reproduction on earth. Pakhangpa was the second son of Salailel Sitapa and Lailelpi Sitapi born through normal pregnancy of ten months.

Sitapa Mapuki 'Nungpung Wakhan':

Sitapa Mapu recorded what happened before the leihou nonghou period and the same was narrated through Sitapa Mapu and Leimalel Sitapi down the line. This puya WHTSAP talks about what had happened before the four chaks (Hei-,Haa-,Kon-, Lang-) and during the four chaks.

What was before the four chaks? Some books say there was 'Hayum' era while some others claim four 'hangko' eras. In another book, 'hangko' eras come after the four chak eras. About 'nungpung wakhan', interestingly, Hegel (1770-1831) said, "All that exists originated from Pure Thought or the Absolute Idea".

If we take 'nungpung wakhan' in this philosophical meaning, it was the beginning of everything. It is the singularity that existed before everything as 'AMA' (one) according to the Meetei puyas. Whether the universe had a beginning or it is eternal is a contested idea in the scientific community. We are not sure whether this 'Ama' was the beginning of a small section of the vast universe or the whole. Famous scientist Albert Einstein was confused and Stephen Hawkins is also confused about the origin of the universe and its nature. But science will not sleep idle.

Tingpanpa Mapu Sitapa was living in the open space (talang aatingpapu talang malangna Im/Yum oina haina humna leilingei) as his home. We can assume that Sitapa Mapu was in a space exploration travel. After finding the planet earth, his 'nungpung wakhan' decided to separate the sky (nongthou) and earth (malem). The Bible also talks about this separation in the Genesis. With the help of unknown power, he lifted up the earth (malem leisha) from beneath the ocean causing huge fire, water and wind (something like an underwater explosion).

Here the primeval earth is described as oceanic planet with no land mass. Everything was under water before Sitapa Mapu intervened to claim the earth from 'inungpung'. We have two related terms in the puya namely inungpung and ilonnung. Both mean under water. However, the major difference is 'inungpung' is used to mean 'underwater landmass' while 'ilonnung' is just in the water. The Meetei ancients said: 'There is water under the earth, there is earth under water' (Malemgi makhada ishing lei, ishinggi makhada malem lei).

Q. Who are the Meeteis?

Aatinga Sitapaki mamit manungta leipa mitnaha atupu malle haipakipu 'MI' kouye ||
Mi atupu yengna sakhiye haipakipu 'Mee' kouye ||
Mee atupu khangnanapa haituna Aatinga Sitapaki mamit manungta leipa
mamipu yengtuna sakhipana atei amani khangnanapani haituna 'Mee-Atei' kouye ||
Mi-ta sai-on toutuna pokpa (!) sapa (!) Taipang Meena, Meetei haina koukhale ||

If we take Kangleipak as the first place where the Lai race descended to spread their 'genetic code', the whole humanity is nothing but 'Meetei'. The above lines clearly say that human beings were created first by looking at their own image by the laiyam. And to know that those 'created beings' were not them but others created by them, they were called 'Mee-Atei'. The later mortals (who were created and born) called themselves as 'Meetei'.

Therefore, brotherhood and sisterhood of mankind is clearly written down in the puyas. Many Meetei scholars still claim that the different races of mankind are nothing but those who left Kangleipak long time ago. This ancient people called Meetei are living in a small place called Manipur with no hopes while their blood brothers elsewhere have made great strides.

Our Maichous will have explanations for the changes taking place across the globe during the 'Langdai' period. There are many scholars saying that the 'Meetei' is an amalgamated race of different tribes and ethnic groups under the leadership of Mangang/Ningthouja Salai. This is strongly against what the puya is telling us about the origin of the term 'Meetei'.
